In favor or against a "digg" crime.com??

The Virignia Tech episode, and the finnish case of last month are presenting a common point: the two killers announced many weeks before acting, that they were going to kill some of their friends.
These tragedies shows that if someone had survey the web, this two guys wouldn't have killed those people, and many lives could had been saved.

So, must we create a police of the Internet to prevent things like that?
Internet is too large to be totally surveyed, but as my wise master, Bob Spaulding, it could be possible to create a kind of crowdsourcing surveillance, in the model of Digg, that could permit to anynone to signal a dangerous post, or a licencious website.
This is a possibility that could work, but my fear is that users are not policemen, they do not have judiciary competencies.. That's why I think that there are risks if you let people decide what is a crime and what is not. If someone wants to denounce an act that is immoral, but legal, where are the limits? Must the surveyors be surveyed by real policemen??
It is a real and interesting question, and Internet will have to answer it sooner.

For the moment, i prefer suggest a different solution:
The two guys who announced on Youtube that they were going to kill their friends, were not criminal when they recorded these videos. They knew that people were able to see these records on the Internet, and that what they were going to do could have been cancelled if anyone had seen it. That's why in my opinion, they were calling for help doing it, just like people who take medecines to kill themselves, and then call the police... When they putted those videos, it was a manner of asking for help to people who would look to the video. Internet is a new manner of asking for help, without talking face to face with anybody.
This is the reason why i think that it's not a crowdsourcing police website that must be created, but a website that permit to survey, with the help of psychiatrists, if some users need some help, if their behaviour permit to target a risk for themself or for the people who are around.
It seems to me really more humanist to create a crowdsourcing help website, than a police community...

Internet is never on strike!

During two weeks, we had e-culture class however there was a huge strike in Paris. Internet changes many things for people who wants to work when there is not any middle of transport. You can stay at home, and use your computer to join your clients, to send reports, or to do researches.
That what we tried to illustrate with this beautiful video, but the images are too fast, however the sound is in normal speed...
Anyway, you'll see Antoine laughing at strikers because he's able to work!

Victor the forecaster

This is my e-video-presentation, more precisely my second try to do a e-presentation.
First of all, i changed something to the first one: it's not "soothsayer", but "forecaster" that matches with my mind.
On this video, i explain you what is the job that i would like to do when i'll be an adult... I want to be someone that can do recommandations to medias when they want to adapt themselves to the evolution of the society, and specially in front of the Internet's increasement. If a magazine wants to keep his readers, he has to know what the peolple wants to read in a magazine. How must it look like? What are the subjects that interest the public...
That's why my job wil consist in feeling the medias evolutions, and the different trends in the society that influe on the medias...

This is the perfect example of what everybody has to fight against on the Internet!
Yeah, you know what i mean... the many problems that you meet when you're trying to do something intelligent on the web, if you are not a professional!
Here you can see the first video i did to present myself as the better forecaster of the medias evolution. It took me many time to have the good shot, with the good light, and without failing in telling my speech. But when putted it on Youtube, something strange happened: the sound is played on the good beat, but the images are running really too fast!

When the web has photos of you, that you, don't have!!

What a surprise was it for me when i saw myself on the Internet, on photos that i didn't know.
The first one was on Flickr: HERE
This is a photo of celsa's students, taken for the "Stand up for poverty" last month. You can see myself on the right side, with a brown cap. It's so strange to see yourself on the web without knowing it.
The second exemple is on facebook. When i created my account last month, there was already ten photos of me, tagged by some of my friends.
So everybody should know that on the Internet, everybody has a life, even if he never goes on it

English correction

At the moment, I work in a society that pay 65 employees. It is located in Paris in the 15^th arrondisement in a street called Rue Maubert. Its reason is to commercialize children’s software.

It receives subventions from the state to hire young interns. This is how I've been hired in this position that is titled sales manager. In the first time, my job title was marketing manager, but I changed job.

We sell a line of products with the brand Youngsoft. We have many work associated to marketing. Billboard advertising in the tube is one of the most expensive. Our PR department also has a very large budget. We realize our own ads with our writting staff, and we do our own publication of user manuals.

Our quarterly results for this year had been all very positive. Our market is very interesting right now, and that is why we do benefits.

We want to export our products to Tahiti because we think overseas customers would be interested in buying them.

To summarize, because of our profesional ethics and our interesting market segment, we have a beaming future.

When the Duck begin to surf!

Today, most of newspappers and magazines have created their website: Le Point, L'Express, Marianne, Libération, Le Monde ou le Figaro.
The creation of such websites was a real challenge for these newspapers, and still now, they do not have found any business model : these website have to match with the willings of the users, but it must not conduce to the end of buying material newspapers!

Until this summer, a weekly newspapper was still one of the last resistance fighter to the Internet to this wave of press websites: Le Canard Enchaîné.
The Canard always said that it was a paper stuff and that the journalists just had enough work with material writting.
But finally, this summer, they created a webpage. What is written shows that the journalists have not created this page with a great happyness : "Non, en dépit des apparences, ''Le Canard'' ne vient pas barboter sur le net".
For the moment, the website only includes the first page of the weekly newspapper, but what is said is that their will be soon some more things: old editions, informations...

This small evolution in the Canard behavior shows that the Internet seems to be an inevitable medium for the newspappers: if such a famous newspapper with such regular customers has to become online, every magazine will do the same.
The question is: will the Canard Enchaîné be a real time information website, or will it keep is weekly dimension?

Press addiction...

This year we have to write a thesis about medias.

Because i'm fond of press, it took me a lot of time to choose what kind of subject would be more interesting to talk about: press & politics, press strategy, pres marketing....

Finally, I decided to work on the ritual aspect of buying and reading weekly press. It's not a hazard if I decided to chose this subject: I'm personaly addicted to the press, I have to read the news everyday, and if I have some explanations, I don't really know why. So, this thesis is going to be a personal introspection, a kind of therapy for me.

But it will also be a serious work on the ways that marketers can use those kind of addictions.
Another aspect that interrests me, is that the Internet isn't a weekly or a monthly media, but a media that evolve each second. That's why, the Internet can't use the ritual aspect of reading news. Maybe, in contrary, some website has introduced weekly parts in their publications, kind of articles or analysis that are only published each Wednesday. This kind of function would make peolple wait for the next one, and the next one etc...

Each week, I will detail you my progresss about this subject. So come back on next Thursday!

Jack Sparrow and the Internet Fight

When a social culture is increasing while the official laws doesn't want to change, events like The Pirate Bay case may happen.

People are now used to download free music and movies. But as big firms like EMI are doing an important lobbying not to let governments making evolve the laws, the million people who are downloading everyday are out of the law.
That is why, initiatives like Pirate Bay appears trying to find an international solution to this problem.
Of course, states are figthing against those initiatives. Of course, The Pirate Bay example isn't an enduring solution to give a Business model to the Internet, and the states will one day have to accept the reality.
But the positive thing is that the various tries of Pirate Bay to obtain an official status and a place to install itself make noise around the problem of downloading. The many articles that were published about this subject may put the politics in front of their repsonsibilities...

The Chris Benoit case, or the crowdsourcings hasards!

In last June, a wikipedia user modified the topic about Chris Benoit, a notorious catch fighter who had announced just a few days ago that he won't participate to the next catch event, two days later.

The user wrote that Benoit wasn't going to fight because his wife had been killed. However, Benoit's wife wasn't dead, and everybody considered that it was a joke.
The problem is that 12 hours later, policemen came into Benoit's flat and discovered three dead people: Benoit, his wife, and their daughter.
The police survey established that David Benoit killed the two women. But the wiki user had been frightened enough to explain his joke on wikipedia, and promited not to do such things again. He assured that is article was just a coincidence, and that there was a chance on 10.000 that he'd be right!

This example is one of the most relevant to show the limits and the risks of crowdsourcing. It is a great idea, but their can be fakes and bad jokes like this!

Book crossing, or how to share culture in a funny way...

Book crossing.com is a new way to share books around the world.

Take a about that you liked, place it in an uncommon place in a town or anywhere. Then, notice on the website where you have put it.

People can now go to take it, and read it. The number that is written on the book permit to signify on the website that you are the new owner of the book. You can write online your opinion about it, criticize it...

Then, you may let it again in the nature, to letg the book continue is travel.

This example is the perfect example of generosity on the Internet. A real community of book crosser has been created: now they are more than 500.000 people of 130 coutries are participating to this giant culture sharing. Anybody can leave a book that he liked and permit other people to enjoy it. The act of searching the book, then learn on the Internet where did he came frome, and finally survey he goes must be really exciting. And maybe, this aspect is more relevant of the reasons that explains the success of Bookcrossing.com
